Developing School Protocols: Intervening with Students Experiencing Thoughts of Suicide

FREE

This introductory course will review best practice guidelines for schools developing and implementing intervention policies for supporting youth who express thoughts of suicide.

Recommendations for suicide screening, assessment, safety planning, re-entry post hospitalization, and ongoing monitoring will be reviewed.

Who should attend? This course is appropriate for school administrative staff or mental health professionals who are involved in developing and implementing suicide prevention policies within their school community. We recommend that schools have both a mental health staff and administrator attend so they are best able to implement material reviewed in this course. Schools who are in the earlier stages of developing policies and protocols may benefit more from this course, as it is introductory in nature.
