This workshop is a two part series developed for Behavioral Health Practitioners. Gender diverse youth experience barriers to receiving adequate, gender-affirming care. A significant barrier to care for trans youth is lack of access to knowledgeable and affirming providers. The majority of behavioral health providers indicate that they have had insufficient opportunity for training and development in this field. This led PCMH to develop a workshop to address the need for education on how to conduct a readiness evaluation and write appropriate letters of support from behavioral health personnel that fulfills all requirements set forth by WPATH – The World Professional Association for Transgender Health.

The first session will provide a thorough review of the Standards of Care developed by WPATH – The World Professional Association for Transgender Health, the changes that have occurred with the 8th edition release, the purpose of completing a readiness evaluation.

The second session will discuss how to conduct a readiness evaluation assessment and how to write an effective letter of support for gender-affirming medical interventions.
