Schools are uniquely positioned to help prevent youth suicide. Critical components of a comprehensive school suicide prevention strategy include offering a safe learning environment, providing access to safe and trusted adults, and identifying students who may be at risk of suicide. To help staff meet the needs of students at risk of suicide, it’s important that schools have effective protocols in place.
Partners for Children’s Mental Health is offering workshops to help Colorado school districts improve their policies and procedures related to intervening with students at risk of suicide and providing support after a suicide loss. Each workshop is a two-part series that will review best practice guidelines and offer recommendations.
