Developing School Protocols: Intervening with Students Experiencing Thoughts of Suicide

Course date: February 4th and 11th from 9:00AM – 11:00AM (MST)

Audience: School Professionals

Location: Via Zoom

This course is a two-part series that will review best practice guidelines and offer practical suggestions for school districts looking to develop or improve policies and procedures to support students experiencing thoughts of suicide. Recommendations for suicide screening, assessment, safety planning, re-entry post hospitalization, and ongoing monitoring will be reviewed.  This course is appropriate for school administrative staff or mental health professionals who are involved in developing and implementing suicide prevention policies within their school community. We recommend that schools have both a mental health staff and administrator attend so they are best able to implement material reviewed in this course.  Schools who are in the earlier stages of developing policies and protocols may benefit more from this course, as it is introductory in nature.  This course will be held over two sessions and facilitated via Zoom.

  • Session #1: February 4th from 9:00AM – 11:00AM (MST)
  • Session #2: February 11th from 9:00AM – 11:00AM (MST)
